India keeps shocking me every new day....

I was glancing through the pages of a newspaper the other day, when I stumbled upon a headline that read, "They erected a set worth 9 lakh rupees. And burnt it." I just couldn't stop thinking. Was this worth it? Do the TRP's of a show depend on what amount of bucks are spent over constructing one set? Moreover, what amused me even more was these people burnt 9 lakh rupes to ashes knowing that the same 9 lakh rupees could have given a new life to hundreds out there. One more thing that intrigued me was the fact that all this glitz and glamour consistently happens to be in Indian Television. I understand the need of glamour but I just dont reckon that a set worth rupees 9 lakh was needed just to add a glamour quotient what with the whopping amount that is already being spent on the costumes, jewellery and make-up of the "so-called" actors and actresses of these daily soaps.

I don't think this has ever happened with international chart buster serials(daily series) what with series like F.R.I.E.N.D.S, The OC, SEINFELD, SIMPSONS etc. are reigning for years without any larger-than-life characters. Which character do we relate the most? Tulsi of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or Rachel of F.R.I.E.N.D.S? Who do we think is more a woman of today? I am not trying to advocate international stuff over desi things. I am relating both so that we take what is good without copying and realise that the need of the day are characters that we ourselves could go about understanding. People are tired of seeing people cry, That happens on a daily basis in one's real life. Reel life is expected to be a bit more simpler, understandeable and sensible not forgetting entertaining. I suggest instead of spending those 9 lakh rupees over one soon-to-be-burnt set, if you had only spent them showing us the plight of people who are being rammed down on the pavement by rash driversit wuold have been more fruitful. Or probably how about giving a way those ready-to-be-burnt 9 lakhs to those slum-dwellers??

Maaze Gaaneee....

In Marathi, coz I am a proud Maharashtrian

Kadhi zaley swapna vedi,
Kay zaley nahi thav,
Kadhi haravle majhya,
Swapna madhle te gaav....

Kadhi haravlya vaata,
Ani sodlya me aasha,
Kadhi punha aas dharli,
Door kelya me niraashaa....

Kadhi lotlaa andhar,
Kadhi saarey sunna zaaley,
Kadhi kalokha madhe hi,
Ek chandane hasale....

Punha ubhi rahuni mee,
Chadhu lagley ha ghaat,
Ek sarli ni dusri,
Suru zali vadalvaat...

(Translation) For my english and hindi counterparts,
I dont know when I lost myself in my dreams,
I dont know what happened,
I dont know when I lost the village in my dreams...

I got lost in the roads sometimes,
And then I became so hopeless,
And then again I enlightened myself,
And heaved away the hopelessness.....

There was a time when everything darkened and nothing could be seen,
Everything was silent and haunting,
But there was also a time when in the same darkness,
There lit a star, high up in the night sky...

I stand up again,
To tread this winding road,
One stormy lane has just ended,
And here I am facing the next one.

what do you think abt this??

Guys!!

You all might have heard this one if you people watched "Lage Raho Munnabhai"..

Shaher ki es daud me daud ke karna kya hai?
Jab yehi jeena hai dosto to phir marna kya hai?
Paheli barish me train late hone ki fikr hai
Bhul gaye bhigte hue tahelna kya hai?
Serails ke kirdaaro ka saara haal hai malum
par maa ka haal puchhne ki fursat kise hai?
Ab ret pe nage pao tahelte kyu nahi?
108 hai chanel phir dil bahelte kyu nahi?
Internet ki duniya ke to touch me hai,
lekin pados me kon raheta hai jaante tak nahi.
Mobile, Landline sab ki bharmaar hai,
Lekin jigri dost tak pahuche aise taar kaha hai?
Kab dubte hue suraj ko dekha tha yaad hai?
Kab jaana tha shaam ka woh banana kya hai?
To Dosto Shaher ki es daud me daud ke karna kya hai
Jab yahi jeena hai to phir Marna kya hai?

Hey guys...

Come on now...

We need to make this interactive, isn't it?

I m putting a thought I just read over here...And I hope all the people who come here would respond...

The thought goes like this-

"The atom bombs are piling up in the factories, the police are prowling through the cities, the lies are screaming from the loudspeakers, but the earth is still going round the sun....."

Come on now, Discussions are welcome as alwayz....How do you interpret this one?

Teach and Learn.....That's what I call LIFE.....

Hey Guys n Gals!!!!

Sometimes its so difficult to avoid feeling hurt, even if what hurt you was a very small incident. See the irony of life - What we love THE most, hurts most, makes us cry the most although that's the only thing/person who can bring us happiness. Huh!!! That's a tough one.

Life sometimes makes us cynical of all things we believed in till we were hurt. For e.g. When one is hurt by love he thinks n re-thinks hundred times before saying "I Love You" to someone else again. He/She doesn't remain sure of himself. He/She stops trusting people.He/She refuses to beliebe in good luck. All this as a cost of one broken relationship. They say it takes years to build a relation but not even a moment to break it. One shot of distrust and the relation and the people involved all shattered into pieces. We try and mend it and
another blow. How do we stand up amidst all this?

"A successful person is the one who lays a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him".

Well.....Thats how we stand up. Ever heard of phoenix?? Its a mythological bird which is said to be reborn from his ashes. Guess what this represents? Us, Humans. This is how one needs to stand tall. Broken doesn't mean something that cannot be mended. We need to stand up from our own ashes. And grow up to become even more stronger. Never ever regret decisions that you take. Coz good or bad, they taught you the rightmost things you wont have ever learned had you not taken them. Say thanks to God, yes, but say thanks also to those who came and left your life on THE RIGHT TIME. You learnt your lessons from them. Dont hold grudges. They only make you negative. Learn from situations, dont keep cribbing over them. Just remember. You need to learn and teach.

"The greatest of teachers are those who themselves are the best of learners."

06/02/07.....GEETA SAAR!!!!! Heard about it?

Well!!!! I donno whats up with this..but I think I always try to channel my energies towards the positive things of life. Let me be real frank here,. I was not even an inch of this a year back. Call it "coming-out-of-adolescence-getting-into-adult" phase of my life. The transition created havoc or probably the havoc gave birth to the transition. I am still not sure which way was it!!!
All u people might be aware of the Geeta Saar; something one might spot in almost every hindu house. Now another question! How many of us really believe in it? Or how many of us really believed it when you read it for the first time? Not many of us, I bet. I DIDN'T.

It starts with,
"Jo hua, acche ke lie hua,
Jo hai vo bhi acche ke lie hai,
Jo hoga vo bhi acche ke lie hoga"

When I read this for the first time I was 8, the age at which I got the first shock of my life. The moment I read this line I asked God, "What good(accha) did you do to us when u took away my Dad?" He didnt reply. One thing I admire about this super-natural, omnipresent and benevolent being is that He doesn't answer any of your queries by words. He answers them through various situations he puts us into. Since I didn't get my answer I refused to believe GEETA-SAAR. But gradually as my life started unveiling itself, I started getting my lessons and they made me believe in the philosophy "Jo Hota Hai Accheke lie hota hai".

The struggles that my Mom went through(and survived) after my Dad are worth lakh flowers(more than that). I got to see a living Goddess. I've honestly never seen a mother doing for a child what my Mom has done for us. I got to learn my lessons from my Goddess. Whatever I am today is just because of her. I wouldn't have been the way I am had my Dad been there. I suppose this is surprising for you people that I can talk positive even for a word as harsh as "death". But when you are left with no options, this is how you need to deal with all calamities no matter how dreadful they are!!

Thats how I started my learning process. I believe strongly that every person in some or the other way has some things in life which we can learn. Every person has his chapters and his lessons, his exams and his results. Why not just forget about ourselves for a while and learn something new from every person we interact with? Imagine how knowlegeable we would eventually become!!!!

Cheers!!

04/02/07...Was pondering over this!!!!!!

"A man is but a product of his thoughts, what he thinks that he becomes." - Mahatma Gandhi.

I am not sure how many of you would go with the ideologies that this man put forward. But guys, let us all accept. This man had the power. He had a convincing tongue. People bought every view of his without speculations.

So now, a genuinely great human being that he was The Mahatma aptly describes the importance of thinking in this one-liner of his - not just thinking - but the way we think, the thoughts that come to our mind - whether they are positive or negative.

Well, the interpretation of the quote is as simple as - when you think positive you become an optimist whereas when you think negative you become a pessimist. - but lets have it here as honestly as possible....

"HOW MANY OF US REALLY CONCENTRATE ON THE PROCESS OF THINKING? HOW MANY OF US REALLY REALISE THAT THIS IS A NEGATIVE THOUGHT AND WE NEED TO SHOO THIS THOUGHT AWAY RIGHT NOW?" (Answers as well as Views are welcome).

I bet not many of us. And mind you, those few of us who do are the people who actually become what they want to.

Now why dont we realise a negative thought as soon as it raises its head? That is becoz we let our thoughts control us which ideally should be vice versa.

Hence at a point in life all of us need to really think about where all this negativity is leading us, whether this was the place where we always wanted to be, whether this was our forseen destination? If the answer is NO, why the hell did we get here?????

Come on guys, pen down ur thoughts like I did...What do you ppl feel about this thought?
I am of an opinion that although the thought process we share or the likes and dislikes we have are different - there's something that's COMMON to all of us and that's LIVING; the core of LIFE. Living in essence doesn't just contribute INHALING and EXHALING. The deepest synonym of LIVING is SURVIVING and as the Darwin theory goes - World's all about SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST and to live a fit surviving life the vital thing is having fit, healthy and positive thoughts. Isn't it?

Cheers,
Anu....
